The Role
The boat captain will be responsible for the following:
- Safe operation and navigation of the boats
- Overseeing the crew
- Ensuring compliance with maritime laws
- Making all critical decisions regarding the boats' journey
- Prioritizing the safety of passengers, crew, and the boat.
Reporting To
Marine Administrator
Responsibilities
- Safely navigate and operate assigned vessel in accordance with maritime laws and company procedures.
- Ensure the safety of passengers, crew, vehicles, and the boat.
- Monitor weather conditions and make operational decisions accordingly.
- Organizes fuelling of the boat and fills the fuel record paper.
- Report incidents, damages, or safety concerns immediately to the marine administrator.
- Fills passenger and vehicle record paper after every trip made
- Performing other tasks as instructed by the marine administrator.
Requirements
- Valid boat captain license/certificate of competency
- Minimum 3-5 years' proven experience operating passenger and/or cargo vessels
- Knowledge of maritime safety regulations and navigation procedures
- Basic First aid and Fire safety training
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Ability to make sound decisions under pressure.
- Must be able to swim.
