A Grader Operator is responsible for

operating a motor grader to construct, maintain, and level roads, ramps, haulage routes, and working areas within the mine to ensure safe and efficient movement of equipment and personnel.

Key Duties

• Grade and level haul roads, access roads, and ramps.
• Remove potholes, corrugations, and uneven surfaces.
• Maintain proper road camber and drainage.
• Prepare working areas for mining operations.
• Spread and level materials such as gravel, laterite, and waste rock.
• Operate the grader safely and efficiently.
• Conduct pre-start inspections and routine equipment checks.
• Report defects and maintenance requirements
• Follow mine safety procedures and traffic management rules.
• Conduct workplace inspections and identify hazards.
• Ensure work is performed without endangering personnel or equipment.
• Maintain the grader in a clean and serviceable condition.
• Complete daily inspection and operational reports.
• Record machine hours and maintenance issues.

Requirements

• Minimum of a High School Certificate.
• Certificate or coursework in Mining, Engineering, or related technical field.
• Skilled in operating a motor grader.
• Good understanding of road construction and maintenance.
• Knowledge of mining safety standards and procedures.
• Ability to identify road defects and correct them effectively.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Willingness and ability to work in underground conditions on a roster basis.
• Must possess a valid Ghanaian driving and operating licenses (C & E Classes) and can drive SUV underground.
