We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly motivated Junior Accountant to support the maintenance of accurate financial records, preparation of financial reports, and adherence to applicable statutory and regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate should possess at least 1 year of relevant experience in accounting and finance, asset management, and regulatory compliance. This role presents a strong opportunity for professional development while contributing to the efficiency and integrity of financial operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports
  • Maintain accurate records of financial transactions in line with company policies
  • Post journal entries and maintain general ledger accounts
  • Manage relevant accounting schedules and fixed asset register
  • Participate in all inventory count exercises
  • Assist in budget preparation and monitor actual performance against budgets
  • Maintain proper documentation for audit purposes and support internal/external audits
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations and company policies
  • Use accounting software (e.g., Sage, QuickBooks) and Excel for financial data management
  • Perform bank and account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies
  • Manage accounts payable and receivable processes, including invoice processing, payment tracking, and preparation of payment remittance advice.
  • Support VAT and Withholding Tax (WHT) computations and filings in compliance with Nigerian tax laws
  • Any other tasks assigned by supervisors

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree (BSc/HND) in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • 1–3 years of relevant accounting experience
  • NYSC discharge certificate (mandatory)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Good communication and organizational skills.
  • ICAN certification or in progress is an added advantage
  • Basic knowledge of Nigerian tax regulations (VAT, WHT, PAYE)
