Nursing Officer II

The African University of Science and Technology (AUST), Abuja is seeking a skilled Nursing Officer in the In-house Clinic to strengthen our medical operations.

Primary Responsibilities:

• 1. Prepare patients for examinations and perform routine diagnostic checks such as blood pressure, temperature and pulse monitoring; provide drugs and injections, etc as instructed by the Medical Doctor on duty, or in the absence of the Doctor where condition require it.
• 2. Assisting the Doctor to provide proper care for patient, always giving complete and thorough report on patient status at the end of the shift.
• 3. Providing advice to patient on staying healthy and where necessary provide psychological support, within the scope of competence of the Registered Nurse.
• 4. Maintaining a hygienic and safe working environment in compliance with applicable healthcare procedures.
• 5. Maintaining proper maintenance of patients' medical records and confidentiality.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Educational Requirements:

• - Registered Nurse (RN) with minimum of 2 years experience.
• - Three (3) years relevant nursing experience in a reputable organization.
• - Experience in both public and private sector will be an advantage.

Technical Skills:

• - Medication administration according to prescription.
• - Management of intravenous (IV) fluids.
• - Pain management.
• - BLS and CPR
• - Wound care using aseptic techniques.
• - Positive relationship and work collaborativeness.
• - ABC of resuscitation.

• - High level of attention to detail and numerical accuracy
• - Strong written and verbal communication skills
• - Good interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment
• - Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines

SALARY AND BENEFITS:

Salary: As per university salary structure for the position (Scale/Grade to be determined)
