PATH’s Center for Vaccine Innovation and Access (CVIA) brings together our expertise across every stage of the long and complex process of vaccine research, development, and delivery to make lifesaving vaccines widely available to children and communities across the world. CVIA’s current portfolio encompasses more than two dozen vaccines either in development or already in use to protect against fifteen different diseases. Our focus is on vaccines to address the leading diseases that claim children’s lives worldwide: pneumonia, diarrheal disease, and malaria; as well as other global health priorities, such as polio and meningitis. We work in partnership with national health ministries, pharmaceutical manufacturers, donors, international financing and regulatory organizations, and many others. PATH has led numerous global partnerships, including the award-winning Meningitis Vaccine Project and the Malaria Vaccine Initiative, which helped develop the first malaria vaccine candidate recommended for pilot implementation.
PATH is recruiting for a Project Management Associate responsible for supporting the management of key internal and external activities to ensure successful implementation of a project to strengthen Routine Immunization services in Kebbi for hard-to-reach communities by deploying mobile immunization teams. The role involves providing day-to-day operational support, developing, and tracking project schedules, identifying, and managing project risk, tracking timely completion of project deliverables, and developing tools and processes to enable and support project activities. The position is based in Kebbi State, provides direct support to project teams in-country and reports to project managers on a day-to-day basis with line reporting to a supervisor with the Project and Portfolio Management team (PPM).
Responsibilities
- Coordinate with the Project Lead, State Program Manager, and other project team members to develop cross-functionally integrated work plans and identify appropriate milestones.
- Track and maintain integrated project-level schedule and resource plans.
- Provide day-to-day implementation support, including for travel coordination, documentation management, scheduling, procurement follow-up, logistics coordination to keep activities moving smoothly.
- Coordinate the development and maintenance of the project risk register, including creation of risk mitigation plans, monitoring risk status and tracking issue resolution for triggered risks.
- Create, implement, and maintain project management tools for planning and tracking projects.
- As required, create tools and processes to support efficient and effective operations of project activities
- Partner with Project Lead and State Program Manager to foster high-performing teams.
- Work closely with project team to forecast and request appropriate allocation of resources to execute project activities and deliverables.
- Coordinate activities with external stakeholders and partners as applicable.
- Coordinate and contribute to the development of donor reports.
- Coordinate and contribute to the development of new grant proposals, and the revision of existing proposals.
- Capture key highlights actions points from meetings and follow up for resolution.
Required skills and experience
- A bachelor’s degree required in public health, health education, nursing, or other health-related field, plus a minimum of five years of related programmatic experience in health or immunization service strongly preferred.
- Proven ability to work with cross-functional teams to accomplish objectives and deliver results.
- Effective time-management, organizational skills, and ability to appropriately prioritize tasks. Attention to detail.
- Demonstrated proficiency in working with ambiguity and creative problem-solving.
- Excellence in attention to detail and organization skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to articulate technical problems, project goals, and deliverables. Demonstrated ability to influence without authority.
- Demonstrated ability to be action oriented, resourceful, and display a can-do attitude to solve problems.
- Ability to apply knowledge gained through work experience to identify potential challenges and develop solutions.
- Strong interpersonal skills, particularly motivational, negotiation, listening, judgment, and conflict management skills.
- Proven experience with Smartsheet (or similar project management software).
- Proven proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
