Senior Assistant Director of Agriculture

For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:

• Must have served in the grade of Assistant Director of Agriculture for at least three (3) years;
• A Master Degree in any of the following fields: Food Science, Home Economics, Agriculture, Horticulture, Agriculture Economics, Natural Resource Management, Agribusiness, Agriculture Extension, Agriculture Education or any other relevant and equivalent qualification from a recognized institution; and
• Demonstrated a high degree of administrative capability, technical and professional competence as reflected in work performance and results.

Duties and responsibilities

• At the headquarters, the officer will oversee activities of the sections within the department.
• An officer at this level will be deployed in a County, Department Headquarters. At the County the officer will deployed as the County Director of Agriculture to co-ordinate all agricultural services in the County. At the headquarters the officer will be deployed as the head of a sub-division. Specific duties will involve;
• Overseeing activities of the sub county within the sub-division; and
• Promoting bilateral agricultural relations and cooperation.
